baby led weaning adventure/New Blog!

Have just started baby led weaning my little darling 23 week old.  So I will be giving him the meals as of next week as well, and will let you know how we get on.

Also, in a similar vein is this blog https://madebypin.wordpress.com/ - do follow if you are not already!

Jools' Pregnancy Pasta

1. This was next on my list, and decided to press on and make it anyway despite the annoying name.
2. The sauce turned out quite chunky - I used my Chef'n VeggieChop (http://www.chefn.com/Product.aspx?id=213) - instead of a food processor to cut up the ingredients. Was good, but probably not as Jamie intended.
3. It was very spicy - I never deseed chillis. It was better for this.
4. One to repeat I think.

Sort of Sausage Cassolet

1.Decided to make this as I liked the look of it
2. Husband doesn't like beans, but making it anyway.
3. He declared it "ok, not one to have every week"
4. Took about 45 mins again.

A Jamie's 30 Minute Meal every week

Following the spirit of Julie and Julia, I am going to blog about cooking one of Jamie's 30 Minute Meals every week....
Here's this weeks...
Mustard Chicken, Dauphinoise Potatoes, Greens, Black Forest Affogato
I decided to cook this for my inlaws this week when they came for lunch.
Some points of note
1. Jamie says you should not substitute or make any alterations.  What happens when the supermarket you go to has sold out of one of the items (rare I know).  You have to substitute. Thus, I ended up using (frozen) summer fruits instead of black cherries.  It was still great.
2. For all the outcry about the meal not taking 30 minutes, I managed in about 45. Without a food processor.  And this was mostly waiting for the potatoes to cook.
3. I think I added too much mustard for the mustard chicken.
4. The inlaws still loved it.

Next week - sort of Sausage Cassolet.

My book of the Week

The Pirate's Log -
this is fun, colourful and a great read. I would recommend it for children aged 3 and up.

Books for Children

Want a recommendation for a book for someone under 18? Let me know what they like and I will recommend something.
Or, let me know a book they liked and I will recommend something based on that.
